Spencer's 8th Birthday and Baptism

What a handsome young man, he already looks like a missionary (minus a few teeth).

June 1st 2008, my sweet little boy turned 8 years old. I still remember so vividly holding him in my arms seconds after he was born, in ah that he was "mine" What an honor it is to raise this Child of God. Daddy and I love you tons!
June 28th 2008 was a big day for our family. Spencer was baptized and we are so proud of him. He set a goal to read the entire Book of Mormon before he was 8yrs. and he did it. He is very aware of the commitment he is making to his Heavenly Father. He has such a giant spirit trapped inside that little body. His favorite song is "If the Savior Stood Beside me" and his Uncle Jeff and Aunt Cherie sang it beautifully. Our family was able to be there and join in this day with us and we are so grateful to them. We love you all!!

Uncle Scott and Aunt Lisa were so nice to come and share this special day with us. We love you!
Our family
Grandpa and Grandma Garns came too. Grandma talked on baptism and gave me a baptism memory book. Grandpa made me this Amazing picture you see behind us. It says "Spencer, Put On the Whole Armour of God".
Grandpa and Grandma Meldrum were there as well. Grandma talked on the Holy Ghost, and gave me a silver CTR ring to remember to "Choose The RIGHT". Great Grandpa and Grandma Shumway, we were so glad you were able to be there.

Family Prayer

So, we kneel down for family prayer and Ashton (2yrs old) decides it is his turn to say the prayer. Tyler was sitting beside him and began to help him out. This is how it went:
Tyler: Dear Heavenly Father
Ashton: Oh, daddy look a car
(we all begin to smirk)
Tyler: We are thankful for this day
Ashton: Thankful dis day
Tyler: We're thankful for Jesus
Ashton: Thankful Jesus
Tyler: We're thankful for mommy and daddy
Ashton: Thankful mommy daddy, Pencer, Taen, Ashy, and you and you, and Child God
(we are now silently laughing, the 2 older boys out loud)
Tyler: We're thankful for grandma and grandpa
Ashton: YEAP! ( as he does a little hop on his knees)

By this time we are all laughing, but still trying to control ourselves for our kids sake. Tyler quickly finishes the prayer with Ashton and we all had a good laugh. The kid is a crack-up. He is always looking for the opportunity to make you smile. We love you Ashy!

No GAS

This morning we were running a little late for school because the kids were eating like turtles. I quickly round up the kids threw them in the car and started to back out of the drive way, when I look down and see my gas light was on. "No... not today." Spencer is in the back seat saying, " Mom, I am going to miss my field trip." Everything is so spread out here that you don't find a gas station on every corner, you have to drive a ways. So I pull into a gas station and to my disbelief the sign says, "TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK." Are ya kidding me, who runs out of gas? What "gas station" doesn't have gas? Isn't that its main purpose-to have gas! I do a quick U turn and head out of the gas station, hoping I will have enough gas to get me to the next station, which is not close. The kids are going crazy in the back yelling, "Mom, just break the speed limit, go, go, go, FAST." Hum, wonder where they have heard those words. Spencer is still proceeding to tell me how he is going to miss his field trip if we don't hurry, so to just pull out in front of all the cars, (again, wonder who he has been driving with...Um, DAD). I finally said, "You will miss your field trip anyway if we are all dead!" I finally pull into the next gas station and I see little yellow bags around all the pumps that read "OUT OF ORDER". Really, are you serious? Finally, on the last row there were 2 pumps that were usable, Hallelujah!! I put a couple gallons in and off we went. Now, yes of course I hit every light RED along the way, but we ended up at school about 30 seconds before the last bell rang. Thank you!! Talk about eye opener on our economy and being prepared. (Having our lamps full, or in this case our tanks) I have been so frustrated at the price of gas, (remember, I am still driving 30 min to school and back everyday plus basketball, scouts, and church) I guess I never thought about it just not being there at all! Pretty crazy. ( I know mom you are thinking, "I told you never to let your tank get below half").

Ixtapa, Mexico

Welcome to Mexico!
Thanks to Uncle Pfizer and all of Tyler's hard work, he won a vacation right before he changed jobs. The vacation had to be used before the summer so here we are!
The kids went and played with Grandparents and cousins for the week and we went to go enjoy a week in the sun.
We had such a wonderful time. We stayed at an all inclusive resort which we had never done before, and I must say it was AMAZING!!
Tyler surfed and went deep see fishing. We sailed out to an island, sat around the pool while people brought us unlimited yummy drinks, walked along the beach, visited with the local people, ate, and ate, and had a blast.
Life sometimes gets so crazy that we forget to stop and take a breath. We are always serving or doing for others, wanting others to be happy, that we forget every once in awhile, WE deserve a day or a week of HEAVEN!
(my pics got out of order. I don't think Crocs are Heaven)

We met some friends along our path. There was a park close by our hotel with all kinds of creatures living in their natural habitat

A moon lit walk

The hotel had a live show every night

Eating dinner on the water and watching the sunset. Does it get any better?

Our Hotel -Melia Azul Ixtapa-

This is where I had countless Strawberry drinks. It makes me miss them just thinking about it.
The view from our room

My breakfast every morning started with Oh... such yummy fresh bread that just crumbled in your hands, topped off with nothing less than authentic Dulce de Leche.
Thank you hun for working so hard for our family. This was a week to remember!
